Samba Patterns For Beginners
This lesson simplifies the complexity of the samba groove by breaking it down into 3 manageable parts; ideal if you are new to the samba style.
Samba: A 3-Layered Groove
Think of samba as a 3-layered groove. We have the quarter notes, 8th notes, and 16th notes. Starting with the quarter note pulse, we add each layer incrementally. The first 'hit' is non-syncopated, then we add the syncopated patterns that define the samba groove. Each pattern is introduced step-by-step, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding.

@pianogroove An excelent tutorial! But I'm missing an important part of the tune: the interlude ( intro / outro ). Would you please complete this part, or demonstrate and explain it separately in a new video? That would be great!
Studio jibli vibes
very entertaining
Brilliant
Very informative. Thank you.
Is there a link to download the lead sheet?
great. thank you.
Great tutorial, you explain very well. When can we have the second part??? Thank you
Please, play the entire piece before starting the explanation. It is important. Anyway, good video.
First class in every respect.....TVM
Thank you so much!
Floetry - Say Yes voicings
Seems a joke i'm a classical pianist never Saw such writing for bass line !!! Useless!!!
Your tutorials are insane! I like the tone of your voice, the way you approach your lessons, your choice of tunes and the little tips you sprinkle in as a true gift for beginners like me. You are absolutely inspiring! Thank you so much (My name is obviously not Beethoven but I do come from Germany and my surname translates into the composer's:)
This video is fantastic! I've finally found what I've been looking for! Thank you so much for explaining why you made the decisions as you were making them. Videos like this will often add in so much flare from what they're explaining that it misses the mark. YOU illustrated VERY clearly why not using the basic form of chords will just not get you there with these concepts. Honestly just a superb video. You gave me that last piece I was missing. THANK YOU SO MUCH

I CAN PLAY JAZZ???? HELLO???? Thank you!! I've been learning piano for 10 years and never understood how they can make it sound so relaxing and non-classicy, AND i LITERALLY WATCHED ONLY 2 MINUTES SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VIDEO AND SUDDENLY I CAN PLAY JAZZ?? You're the GOAT. <3
Beautiful but why hurry when you got so sentimental, emocional in Dm7?
Amazing tutorial!
You're the best part :)
I want to know which voicing to use
👏👏👏
So useful! Thank you!
This was extremely useful to me!!! As you said... Most of people doesn't have access to a real Hammond console and I'm one of them. To have a minimum experience, I converted an old dead electronic organ into a MIDI controller with all controllers corresponding to the original Hammond controllers as you explained. I'm using B4 II, from Native Instruments. The experience is incredible and you made it even better because now I can understand, in deep way, how things works on a Hammond. I'm immensely grateful!
Genial
This is a really great song. I love learning theory from you because it is so much easier to just watch while someone plays and talks about it while playing it.
I've been interested jazz this year, yet your video makes sense to me. But some people may struggle with your video, because explanation step by step are to fast.
My word, I've just had my mind blown. I've always heard quartals this quartals that, but this is like WOW... THIS is how to use quartals
Do you have the score written out with the substitutions.
Как-то не очень правильно звучит...не точно.🤔😒Лишние ноты берёте. Или наоборот.. не берёте нужные..
Ugh... was waiting for you to play the entire thing together without interruptions! Would have made this so much better... Loved the tutorial, but really wish you would play the entire piece continuously so I can hear what it all sounds like in context. Very frustrating that you didn't do that.
Great lesson! Is the 4-way close description used more often than Diminished 6th? The quartal/4th voicing sounds really good. Also, the Duke Ellington use of the m9 over Dm and Gm in the Coltrane version is a 5th possibility - lots of choices!
good for lofi
I enjoy learning from you but you play a little slower fpr me please.
just took the time to learn this whole thing. wow. I feel like I can play like I've always wanted to. bro thank you.
Beautiful and thank you. I cant find a link to purchase Real Book One from the resources section of your website and have been looking for about 20 minutes.
Your tutorial is so logical and simple, you make me feel like I could learn to play this! I am an absolute beginner, but I’m working on it. I’n retired now, so I can devote ss much time to this as I want.
what key is this in
So lovely...inspiring me to get back to learning! Thx for sharing...watching from North Vancouver, Canada. Regards, Jules.
